Value the habitat before a sighting list

Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage property and a protected Terai landscape of forest, grassland and rivers. It supports significant wildlife, but no responsible operator can guarantee a particular wild animal on demand.

Choose the experience for its ecology and interpretation. Be cautious of itineraries that turn rare sightings into promises.

Ask how an activity is run

Request the guide's role, group size, park entry process, transport method and rules for distance, noise and waste. Follow park staff and qualified naturalists. Never ask a driver or guide to pursue or crowd wildlife for a photograph.

Animal-welfare questions deserve direct answers. If an activity involves captive animals or physical contact, investigate its purpose and standards before participating.

Plan the correct gateway

'Chitwan' can refer to a broad district and tourism area. Confirm the accommodation location, park access point and included transfers. A road quotation from Kathmandu, Pokhara or Lumbini needs a date, vehicle description and change terms.

Heat, rain and river conditions vary by season. Pack for the Terai rather than reusing a high-mountain list.

Leave a lighter footprint

Carry refillable water where safe systems are available, keep waste with you until it can be handled properly and avoid feeding wildlife. Respect village and community spaces outside the park just as carefully as protected habitat.

Use the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation for current visitor information and tickets; an old blog price should not drive the plan.
